Will You Be My Bridesmaid Box

Guilty! I have totally posted this project before. I still use Andrew’s old digital camera, but I have slightly improved my photography skills (next big investment: new camera)! Anyways, I wanted to take new photos because this project was so fun and special for me I really wanted a decent post to show it off! I cannot wait to share our special day with my closest friends. They are the most fabulous women! Sincere, funny, kind, wild, honest and most of all, unique.

I used beautiful stationary cards from Rifle Paper Company and wooden jewelry boxes from Hobby Lobby.

My mom had a great idea to add some lovely Chanel makeup! We found the most perfect items!

(Pink) Nailpolish – “535 May”

(Natural) Lipgloss – “87 Seashell”

(Waterproof) Mascara – “10 Noir”

Could those names (and colors) be more fitting for our May 18th, Rosemary Beach wedding?

DIY Prints

Well, another weekend has come and gone. Although I worked this weekend, I was happy to have Friday off! I am so overly excited that I will have my first home office/craft room come May! I offered Andrew the garage… so I think that’s a fair trade, right? I know I want a clean space with a beautiful white Parsons desk. I hope to have all of my craft supplies conveniently stored in the closet (I’m a dreamer). I want to order a few inspirational prints from Lara Casey’s shop (shown in my last post) but also wanted some DIY prints. What I love about framed prints is that you can easily store them in a folder and switch them out, depending on season or mood.

For Valentine’s Day, I used my Cricut to create a die cut print that said “KISS” and “XO”. They were so easy and fun! I didn’t need to use Cricut Craft Room but if you did it would look something like this:

Screen Shot 2013-02-24 at 8.32.17 PMI used my “Plantin Schoolbook” cartridge and font size 3  to get the letters (“LOVE”) large enough for a 8.5 x 11 cardstock. For “KISS” I used size 5 1/2 because it was on 12 x 12 cardstock.

imageCheesy photo alert! (I didn’t have any photos of my “KISS” print framed.. except this one :)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAYou could use your die cut letters inverted, too.

The next print I created was not very original, but it was easy and fun! I have seen so much inspiration for a painting like this on Pinterest & was happy to finally have some time to try it out! I can’t wait to do it again in the colors that I want my home office to have!

What do you think? I love how simple this painting technique is! It is great for anyone who uses color for inspiration! Just a few brush strokes will give you an idea of what color palette might (or might not) work for your next project! I will definitely be doing this again!

Making Things Happen 2013

MTH_LC

This Spring is full of so many changes for me. I will begin life as married woman, move to a new & unfamiliar city, start a new career and attend Making Things Happen Intensive in Chapel Hill, NC. Each of these are very exciting and very scary for me. I am so happy that I will be attending MTH because it has been something I’ve been interested in for a long time (but always chickened out). I had many, completely valid excuses.. :)

“Not the right time”

“It’s too far”

“I don’t have the money”

“I just have SO much going on right now”

“I’m not good enough”

“Those people are out of my league”

“I have nothing to bring to the table”

Shall I continue? Haha. But 2013 is different for me. I don’t mean that like the early January crowd at the gym. I feel different lately and I am actually happy to admit my faults. I am more conciously aware of the things I want to change. And I am more driven then ever. Andrew is a big reason for this. Having someone who loves and supports me so much has given me that extra push I needed.

There are so many things that I am passionate about but, like many others, I haven’t found a way to make a career out of them. It’s extremely frustrating and discouraging to work in a field that you know you weren’t meant for. It’s heart breaking to think that you have no purpose. I know that some of the things I am passionate about, others find petty or unfulfilling. 2013 is about finding that balance. Doing what I love and what makes me happy, but still giving back and helping others.

I have been working during the day to earn a buck and spending late nights creating my dream job. Now that I have started to focus and zero in on my passions, I am discovering what is rational and DOABLE. Working on a business plan while working & trying to plan a wedding hasn’t been the easiest. But if it was easy, it wouldn’t be worth it, right?

So, I am going into MTH next month head first. I cannot wait to learn from so many inspiring individuals, gain experience, knowledge, faith and new friends.  This is what it’s all about!

Wish me luck,

T

Valentine’s Project II

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

First off, sorry that this post is so late. I wanted to show y’all the goodies I had gathered for the Children’s hospital before Valentine’s Day but I left my camera in Atlanta! Ah, the troubles I have keeping up with my camera.

Anyways, remember how I was working on a Valentine project for the patients of Children’s of Alabama? It was so fun gathering goodies to encourage the patients to stay creative.  The journals and clipboards were my favorite part because each child can decorate their own and make it personal! I always had fun with that kind of stuff growing up. I look forward to donating similar supplies in the future!

What do you think? This box of craft supplies would be great to donate to schools and community centers such as; the YMCA or Boys and Girls Club!

CHEERS to the weekend!

Thankful for another productive and fulfilling week? Or thankful to have just survived it? Gearing up for big weekend plans? Or winding down for some r & r? Either way, cheers to you!

I just finished a fun new banner for my Etsy shop and it’s the perfect way to celebrate 5 o’clock on Friday.

Whose ready to celebrate? Me! These banners are fun because you can hold on to them and bust them out for any spur-of-the-moment celebration! Below are a few more fun and festive details that would look great with the banner…

Fabulous “Girls Night In” by Pizzazzerie

What are your weekend plans? I am Atlanta bound to see my two best friends! A weekend of catching up, crafts & wedding details! Cannot wait. Have a fabulous weekend!

Cheers,

It’s all in the details

Eeeek! So thrilled to say that my wedding gown has finally come in! I got a call last week that my dress is HERE! And I have my first scheduled fitting for this weekend! I probably should have been eating healthier and working out more but maybe this will be just the inspiration I need. I cannot wait to see it! Since I cannot post photos of my beautiful gown on here (yet), I decided to post some inspiration for “The Day-Of” details. The gown is by far the most fabulous part, but who could forget the shoes, jewels & vail?

So much prettiness, how will I ever choose these little details? I am hoping to pick out a vail this weekend at my fitting, this will for sure help me with my other decisions.

Valentine’s Day Inspiration

Yay! Finally getting started on the Valentine’s box for Children’s of Alabama. I wanted to put all of my inspiration in one place before I start! Here are some CREATIVE, kid-friendly valentine ideas. I am doing my best to stay away from items that are too small (choking hazards) but also still trying to find dual-purpose items (cute, but could actually be used after Valentine’s day!).

These are great ‘no-candy’ ideas from Pluckymomo blog:
